World Elder Abuse Awareness Day: Aging Advocacy Event: Monday June 15, 2026, Dandelion Café 4:30—5:30pm. This event is designed for anyone who interacts with older adults in our community — from bank tellers, financial professionals, and retail staff to social workers, healthcare providers, faith communities, caregivers, and nonprofit organizations. One of the growing concerns we are seeing is financial exploitation and fraud targeting older adults. Many times, the first warning signs are noticed by someone in the community during everyday interactions. This event will focus on:
Common forms of elder abuse and exploitation:
Financial scams and fraud trends affecting older adults
Warning signs and red flags to watch for
What to do if you suspect abuse or exploitation
How we can work together to better protect vulnerable older adults
We hope this gathering will strengthen community awareness, collaboration, and advocacy for older adults across our region.
